Home Care: A Modern Approach to Senior Healthcare

Home Care: A Modern Approach to Senior Healthcare

Most of the developed nations have been experiencing an aging population, which is mainly due to a significantly lower birth rate. The United States, a notable example, has been facing this over the past several years. With this current demographic trend, the demand for elderly care continues to rise.

According to a 2016 survey done by the Pew Research Center, not less than 61% of older adults prefer to age in place with someone to care for them. This survey apparently prompted an increase in the number of home care providers in the country. Furthermore, the state of Hawaii has passed legislation to ease the responsibility of elder care.

Multiple sources say that Hawaii has the best healthcare system in the country. Home care services, for instance, in the state are the most well-managed among all states. With the state’s almost-universal healthcare system, seniors can enjoy the benefits of care without leaving home. Home care agencies often provide the following services:

  • Personal Care

A healthcare service provider in Hawaii knows best when it comes to caring for seniors. Personal care includes assistance with their activities of daily living (ADLs), namely bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and the like.

  • Home Maintenance

To keep seniors healthy while staying at home, a caregiver must know which part of their homes need to be well-kept. Completing household chores can also become a struggle for seniors due to health complications. Hence, caregivers also perform light housekeeping tasks, such as laundry, gardening, and shopping.

  • Recovery Care

A home care service provider in Hawaii ensures that seniors achieve a full recovery after an injury, illness, or hospitalization. To do so, caregivers will handle and implement certain treatment plans devised by their doctors. These include meal preparation, medication management, and accompaniment to medical appointments.

Home care is undeniably a vital component in keeping seniors healthy while aging. Helping Hands Hale, based in Volcano, Hawaii, has been providing quality home care for seniors since 2006. If you’re looking for a home care provider with a solid reputation, call us now!

The state of Hawaii has determined that most caregivers are considered employees and in order to LEGALLY hire and pay your OWN caregiver, you must have a company established with State and Federal tax ID numbers. In addition to their hourly pay you must also pay for Workers Compensation Insurance, Temporary Disability Insurance, General Liability Insurance, and if the caregiver works more than 20 hours per week you must also provide medical insurance for each caregiver. Therefore; choosing an established agency such as Helping Hands Hale is an affordable and easy solution that will save you time, money, and relief from being in violation of State and Federal Labor Laws.
