Meal Prepping for Senior Loved Ones

meal-prepping-for-senior-loved-ones

Homecooked meals taste better and are nutrient-dense. Encourage your senior loved one to eat homecooked meals instead of takeaway; it will be incredibly beneficial to their health. However, if they cannot prepare and cook their own food, allow the assistance of our 24/7 care.

Make sure the food you give your elderly loved one is based on their unique nutritional requirements. Fortunately, we have professionals that understand how to prepare wholesome meals. Here are some pointers we can offer you:

  • Cook by batch
Cooking requires time. Therefore, keep in mind how long it takes to prepare various dishes. Sort your batches based on how long it takes to prepare these dishes. Should your senior needs help with cooking their food, our home care services will happily assist.
  • Keeping food in the freezer that won’t be consumed for five days.
Food storage prevents you from making daily purchases. When the weather is bad and you can’t go outside, this is also helpful.
  • Make sure there are containers for meals available.
Having leftovers is inevitable. For storage and future use, food must be kept in food-safe and air-tight containers.

These will allow you to save time and money in the future. The secret to preparing a fantastic meal lies in planning. You should also include a list of the equipment and materials you’ll need to prepare your food.

The state of Hawaii has determined that most caregivers are considered employees and in order to LEGALLY hire and pay your OWN caregiver, you must have a company established with State and Federal tax ID numbers. In addition to their hourly pay you must also pay for Workers Compensation Insurance, Temporary Disability Insurance, General Liability Insurance, and if the caregiver works more than 20 hours per week you must also provide medical insurance for each caregiver. Therefore; choosing an established agency such as Helping Hands Hale is an affordable and easy solution that will save you time, money, and relief from being in violation of State and Federal Labor Laws.
